Immigration confirms Bobrisky’s arrest

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has officially confirmed the arrest of convicted transvestite Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border as he attempted to flee the country.

National Immigration spokesperson DCI Kenneth Udo stated that Bobrisky is a “person of interest” in relation to recent public concerns.

LEADERSHIP earlier reported that the agency was at a standstill over the development as the National Public Relations Officer, DCI Kenneth Udo, ignored calls, WhatsApp messages and text messages sent to his mobile line.

The agency further announced that he is being interrogated and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.

Udo emphasized NIS’s commitment to maintaining professionalism in the management of the country’s borders and reassured the public of their continued efforts to secure border areas.

The statement reads: “In line with the commitment of the NIS to secure the borders, our eagle-eyed men and officers stationed at the border intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, otherwise known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border over an attempt to leave the country.

“The agency wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest in recent issues of public interest. He is being questioned and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.

“The agency assures the public that it will continue to act civilly and professionally in its legal responsibility for manning the country’s borders.” It concluded

LEADERSHIP reports that this development followed the alarm raised by social media activist Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMam (VDM).

The activist broke the news that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme border in a video posted on his Instagram page on Monday as he attempted to flee to the Republic of Benin to avoid the ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives.
