The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning at 5:50 pm EST on Sunday, in effect until 6:15 pm EST for Gratiot County.

“At 5:50 p.m., a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 7 miles northeast of Carson City, or 7 miles southwest of Ithaca, and was moving east at 45 mph,” the weather service says. . “Flying debris will be dangerous to those without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage will occur to roofs, windows and vehicles. Tree damage is likely.”
