A man was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting in London; one of the survivors was found with gunshot wounds to her legs.

So far no arrests have been made so metropolitan police called it a “senseless act of violence.”

Officers were called to Wells Park Road in Sydenham, in the south east. Londonto 10:10 a.m. Sunday, with reports of a shooting.

Police and paramedics found a man with gunshot wounds, who died at the scene.

The woman who was shot in the legs was taken to hospital, but her condition is not said to be in danger.

A third person was later admitted to the hospital with what were also believed to be gunshot wounds. Police were awaiting an update on his condition.

Commander Peter Stevens said: “I know people will be shocked by this senseless act of violence, especially on a Sunday morning in a residential area.

“I share their concerns and can assure the local community that the response from the Met, along with our partners, has been swift.

“We are determined to safeguard the community, get to the bottom of what happened here and bring those responsible to justice.

“You will see a significant number of additional officers in the area, including forensic experts. Police cordons are likely to remain in place for some time so they can carry out their vital work.”
