Coal County man convicted of manslaughter and stabbing

COAL COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) – A Coal County man originally charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his stepfather is going to prison on manslaughter charges.

Prosecutors said Ronald Yarbrough Jr., 54, has pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter.

According to investigators, Yarbrough started a fight outside his family’s home on Thanksgiving Day 2022, and during the fight, he stabbed 66-year-old Robert Earl Stevens in the neck.

He was charged with second-degree murder in state court, but the case was prosecuted by the FBI due to lack of jurisdiction following the McGirt Supreme Court ruling.

Yarbrough was sentenced to more than nine years in prison.
