Lions vs. Texans Betting Preview: Odds, Predictions and Analysis

The Detroit Lions (7-1) are back in primetime for NFL Week 11 when they hit the road to face the Houston Texans (6-3) on Sunday Night Football, which begins at NRG Stadium at 8:20 pm ET on NBC.

The Lions are favored by 3.5 points overall Michigan Betting Sites to beat the Texans and extend their active winning streak to six consecutive victories.

The latest win came last week against the Green Bay Packers, who beat Houston two weeks earlier. The Texans beat the Indianapolis Colts a week later, before last week’s loss to the New York Jets.

Here’s our Lions vs. Texans betting preview, betting odds and predictions for Sunday Night Football:

Lions sweep NFL season

We have passed the halfway point of the NFL regular season and the better Michigan Sports Betting They are still undervaluing the Lions on a weekly basis.

Detroit owns a stellar 7-1 record against the spread with six straight wins against the number after last week’s 24-14 win at Green Bay.

That followed a crushing 52-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans and a gritty 31-29 victory over the previously undefeated Minnesota Vikings.

The Lions’ top-ranked scoring offense (32.3 points per game) has been the catalyst for the team’s early success with Jared Goff playing at an MVP level.

However, Detroit’s defense has improved in the absence of star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson, allowing the fourth-fewest points (16.5 points per game) since the Week 5 bye.

All of this leaves me baffled as to why the Lions are scoring just 3.5 points against a Texans team that hasn’t looked good all season.

Lions vs. Texans Odds

We’ve seen the Lions favored by between 2.5 and 4.5 points in the point spread during the last week.

Since then, the market has coalesced around Detroit -3.5 with FanDuel Sports Betting offering the best odds of -108.

If you like the Texans, you can get +4 on Sports betting for fans with a $10 bet generating a profit of $9.09 if they cover.

Fanatics also offers the best money line bets The odds for the underdog are +165, which would turn a $10 bet into a $16.50 profit if Houston wins.

After opening as high as 50.5, total bets range between 48.5 and 49 across the market.

Fanatics has the best odds for Over 48.5 at -110, while BetMGM Sports Betting It offers children under 49 years of age at the same price.

Injuries stalk Sunday Night Football

If these two teams were at full strength, I might feel differently about how this matchup will play out.

However, that’s simply not the case for Houston, who will likely be without three of their best players for this primetime clash.

The Texans’ offense has struggled without star receivers Nico Collins (hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (ACL), both of whom are on injured reserve.

Collins was expected to return this week, but he’s going in the wrong direction. So is star linebacker Will Anderson (ankle), who missed practice this week.

The Lions aren’t completely healthy either, but they’ve still pummeled their opponents even with injuries to Hutchinson and other defensive starters.

That hasn’t been the case for the Texans, who have struggled to beat sub-.500 teams in recent weeks.

Lions vs. Texans bets

Injuries among the Texans’ pass catchers have had an obvious impact on QB CJ Stroud, who completed just 36.7% of his passes for 191 yards last week.

I think he’ll put up more yards against a boom-or-bust Lions secondary, but I don’t mind putting odds of -177 on BetRivers sports betting for him to throw less than two touchdowns on Sunday.

I’m also optimistic that Jahmyr Gibbs will have another big day against this beleaguered Texans defense.

He is -145 in DraftKings Sports Betting to score a touchdown, which would turn a winning bet of $10 into a profit of $6.90.

Gibbs is also trading at +420 to score twice, which he has done twice in the last five weeks, with a $10 bet on Caesars Sports Betting earning $42 if you do.

Lions vs. Texans Prediction

As I explained above, I don’t quite understand how this game is valued just north of a field goal, given how these teams have looked over the last month.

The Lions have routinely exceeded expectations against both cupcakes and contenders, and I expect them to cover the 3.5-point spread again on Sunday.
