The Ravens fan wanted to turn himself in to Baltimore police on Monday in connection with allegedly assaulting two Washington Commanders fans in a video that subsequently went viral on social media.

John Callis, 24, is charged with first-degree aggravated assault and three counts of second-degree assault after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest last week.

Police announced Callis’ arrest Monday afternoon in a social media post that showed the alleged perpetrator leaving the police station in handcuffs in a blue button-down shirt and dark blue slacks.

Charging documents viewed by local Baltimore TV station WBAL-TV painted a more complete picture of the Oct. 13 incident, in which Callis allegedly attacked two football fans wearing Commanders jerseys in the 1000 block of South Charles Street in Baltimore.

The clip that went viral showed a man who police believe is Callis randomly walking up to the two fans on the street and proceeding to kick one before knocking the man out with a right hook.

The aggressor, who was wearing a purple Lamar Jackson jersey, then began swinging at the other fan, pushing him against a wall and then throwing him to the ground.

The man in the purple jersey could then be seen leaning toward the camera and saying, “I’m not losing.”

But charging documents revealed that the Commanders fans encountered Callis before the alleged attack, at 9:42 p.m. outside Cross Street Market, where Callis “began to aggressively grab and punch Victim No. 1 in the face.”

There are three alleged victims as a result of the incident and the encounter that went viral on social media took place three minutes after the first, when two of the victims encountered Callis, who had remained in the area with an unknown woman, outside the Watershed- restaurant. WBAL reported the charging document stating.

Two of the victims had returned to the area to find a lost cell phone and that’s when they encountered Callis again.

In the viral video, a voice could be heard off camera saying, “we have a straggler.”

The charging documents further stated that Callis “forcefully struck Victim No. 1 on the left side of his head, causing Victim No. 1’s body to go completely limp, as he fell in an unconscious state towards a nearby parked vehicle and hit his head hit the left side door of the vehicle. …”

According to the Washington Post, Callis is represented by attorney Brian Thompson of the Silverman Thompson law firm.

A charge of first-degree assault is a felony in Maryland and is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
