Alabama’s Jalen Milroe explains what he saw when he competed against LSU

Jalen Milroe took over Saturday night, leading 11th Alabama to a 42-13 victory over No. 14 LSU in Baton Rouge.

The Alabama quarterback rushed for 185 yards and four scoring runs of 39, 10, 19 and 72 yards. After the game, Milroe was asked what he saw during that first touchdown run.

“The most important thing is to trust our blocks,” Milroe told ABC just after the game. “It comes from preparation, just reading the gaps, trusting the offensive line and also trusting our running backs when it comes to quarterback runs. I think it’s very important to trust the guys up front. I know they will do everything in their power to do what is best for the offense.”

While Alabama’s victory keeps the Crimson Tide firmly in contention, the Tigers (6-3, 3-2) virtually fell out of the race with not only their third loss this season, but their second in a row by 15 or more points .

Alabama’s offense racked up 420 yards of offense, but it was Milroe who stole the show.

“The most important thing when we go on tour is communication,” he said. “It is very important for us and that was the emphasis during the week. “We have to be the most prepared team in the country.”

alabama coach Kalen DeBoer praised his quarterback’s play at halftime of the game.

After the game, however, DeBoer said there is little time to celebrate.

“Here we are going to enjoy it for about 2 seconds,” he said. “We know that we have a lot left in the month of November to achieve our goals. There is another step. I think a couple of weeks ago we took a step. We understand how important the process is to playing really good football on Saturdays. We just have to keep improving. There is more out there.”

The Tide’s dominance sent fans heading for the exits before the end of the third quarter, when the score was 28-6. Alabama outgained LSU 420 yards to 343 and possessed the ball for 33:55.
