Dangerous rip currents, small craft advisory in effect for Sunday

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Fairly calm conditions are expected tonight with unusually mild temperatures, beach breezes and nothing more than a few spotty showers moving toward the coast.

Sunday will be warm and windy as an area of high pressure remains off the mid-Atlantic coast. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the low to mid 80s with some low-level humidity. Expect sustained easterly winds around 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Due to these wind conditions, a small craft advisory is in effect until Monday with a high risk of rip currents as well. If you are not a good swimmer, the best thing you can do is stay in the sand on Sunday. Seas will range from 5 to 8 feet in the Atlantic Ocean and inland waters will be rough.

MORE CLIMATE: Radar | Alerts | 7 day forecast | Hourly forecast

Clouds begin to increase Sunday night along with slightly increased rain chances, due to a tropical wave in the northern Caribbean.

On Tuesday, the tropical wave will begin to move away from the area and we should see a little more sunshine during the second half of the day. Temperatures will remain slightly above average, in the mid 80s.

Are you looking for a cool down? Good news: For Wednesday, we are tracking a cold front that will move south of our area, bringing much drier air and much more sunshine to conclude the week.

Highs will fall back into the upper 70s and lower 80s by Friday with lows in the upper 60s by Friday morning.
