Parents claim the university is intimidating in the death of their child

HYDERABAD: Parents of a 17-year-old high school student of Narayana College, Bachupally, who allegedly died by suicide, protested on Monday saying the college was harassing their child, leading to her death. Police cleared the gathered crowd and brought the situation under control.

The deceased was a first-year MPC (mathematics, physics, chemistry) student. After fifteen days in college, the girl left for her village. Then she took classes for a few weeks. Later she left the university again for three months.

After the Dasara holiday, the deceased’s father dropped her off at the hostel on Sunday afternoon.

Bachupally SI Ramesh Reddy said, “She died by suicide on Sunday evening when her friends were leaving for study hours. One of her housemates who went to get some material from the room found her body.”

Management informed the father about the incident and took her to a nearby hospital. She was pronounced dead. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.

The parents expressed their anger at the management, claiming that their daughter took the extreme step due to harassment. The girl reportedly told her parents about the harassment.

Police added that her friends and housemates said the deceased had expressed her disinterest in furthering her education. Police added that management is not under investigation at this time.
