AMD confirms that the Ryzen 9000X3D series will arrive on November 7

AMD has revealed the launch date of its Ryzen 9000X3D lineup, scheduled for next month. The new processor is once again being advertised as the gaming king, which is enough to get any tech enthusiast’s blood pumping.

It looks like the Ryzen 9000X3D rumors were either wrong, or AMD changed its mind to avoid Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200K launch. Anyway, it’s official now; the 3D V-Cache-infused chips will be released on November 7. The announcement also reads ‘X3D Reimagined’, which may refer to the dual CCD (Core Chiplet Die) models. These were previously rumored to feature 3D V-Cache on both chiplets, unlike all X3D variants to date.

AMD didn’t share any performance or spec information during the announcement, but a new leak could fill in the gaps. An AnandTech forum user has shared benchmark results for an alleged Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU. Here we see that the processor spits out 62,360 points in Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail and 25,258 points in Cinebench R23. However, keep in mind that the chip has been overclocked using AMD PBO and base clock, increasing the frequency to 5.68 GHz.

As a reminder, the 9800X3D is rumored to run at 5.2 GHz or 5.4 GHz, depending on who you ask. A nice but not exceptional overclock, which means that the difference between this and the standard behavior should not be large.

Now, compared to the regular Ryzen 7 9700X (with PBO), which also packs eight Zen 5 cores, the X3D part is only 8% faster. While this seems low, keep in mind that Cinebench R23 does not represent the gaming performance that 3D V-Cache CPUs excel at. Also a much more realistic improvement compared to Gigabyte’s claims in Turbo mode.

But that’s not all; Team Red has also lowered the price of existing Ryzen 9000X chips. To be specific, the 9600X, 9700X, and 9900X are all down $30, while the 9950X is down $50. This should bring their respective MSRPs to $249, $329, $469, and $619. That said, the current retail price for each is already lower, at $249, $326, $429, and $599 respectively.

While we’re not sure if AMD will launch all the Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs at once, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be among the first. Hopefully this time the Zen 5 has something to offer for gamers who were disappointed by the regular models.
