A former one American Idol contestant who went viral after being kissed by Katy Perry on the show has been arrested on charges of possession of child sexual abuse material.

Benjamin Glaze, 26, was arrested on Friday, October 18, after a months-long investigation, police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced.

The Tulsa Police Department said in their statement Friday that the department was tipped off about Glaze’s alleged “criminal activity” in April of this year.

After executing a search warrant at his residence, investigators retrieved evidence that allegedly contained child abuse material, the statement said.

“During the search, a smartphone was recovered that contained over 700 images and videos of child sexual abuse material,” Tulsa Police said.

Glaze is a former American Idolcontestant, who appears in the show’s 2018 series.

During the show’s audition, Glaze was kissed by Perry, who was a judge on the show, after he revealed he had never been kissed and said he couldn’t kiss someone unless he was in a relationship with them. Perry then called him over and after the teen kissed her on the cheek, she then kissed him on the lips.

Glaze, then 19, later said he felt “uncomfortable” with the kiss because he wanted to save his first kiss for someone “special,” according to an interview with The New York Times.

He later clarified that he did not consider it sexual harassment.

“I do not believe I was sexually harassed by Katy Perry and I am grateful for the jury’s comments and criticism. I felt uncomfortable in the sense that I have never been kissed before and I didn’t expect it,” he wrote on his Instagram account at the time. As of the morning of Monday, October 21, his account appeared to have been deleted.
