PC paints bloody murder scene, woman accused of murdering father of their child

A probable cause affidavit for the arrest of a woman accused of killing the father of their young child describes a bloody murder scene at their Port Neches apartment, where investigators say she beat him with a baseball bat and shot him in the stabbed his neck.

McKenzie Renee Eary, 20, is charged with the murder of Gregory Mandle Bobenouax, 24.

According to police, around 9:30 Friday evening, a Port Neches police officer was dispatched to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, where a reported assault victim was being treated.

While heading there, the officer was told there was a possible body at the Palms apartment complex on Ridgewood in Port Neches. The officer made a detour and went to the apartment.

He found Bobenoaux’s body on the living room floor, covered in blood. He had a deep stab wound to the left side of his neck and a tremendous amount of blunt force trauma around his head and neck.

Investigators say it appears he was hit with a baseball bat and stabbed in the neck.

Other investigators arrived to examine the crime scene. The officer went to the hospital and spoke with Eary.

She told the officer she came home from work and her live-in boyfriend, Bobenoaux, started arguing with her while she was holding their child.

Eary says at one point he hit her in the back of the head with a closed fist. She says he continued to attack her, to the point where he choked and beat her until she “blacked out.”

She says when she woke up, she saw her hands were covered in blood.

Eary told the officer she had contacted a family member to come get her and the child. After the child was attended to, she was taken to the hospital.

According to the affidavit, witnesses at the apartment complex said they heard a loud disturbance coming from Eary and Bobenoaux’s apartment.

The PC states that at some point later an older woman arrived at the apartment and the witnesses above the older woman yelled at Eary saying, “whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa?”

The officer arrested Eary and took her to jail.

A magistrate set her bond at $100,000.
