LONGUEUIL — A man was injured Saturday after being hit by gunfire in Longueuil.

Longueuil police say they were notified of a man wounded by a bullet on Beauregard Street at 10 a.m.

Once at the scene, officers observed that the 20-year-old man, known to police, had been seriously injured in the lower part of his body. He was taken to the hospital.

Police say the initial investigation led them to establish a secure crime scene at Jacques-Cartier Blvd. and St-Hélène St., also in Longueuil.

The police canine unit and forensic identification section were sent to support the investigation, which is already underway.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the shooting to contact them.
