Jags Safety fined for dangerous hit on Eagles’ Fred Johnson

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles’ Fred Johnson asked earlier this week if Jacksonville safety Andre Cisco was fined for going down and putting his helmet on the left tackle’s knee during Jalen Hurts’ 18-yard touchdown run in the which was a 28-23 Philadelphia victory. .

“Does anyone know if he was fined?” Johnson asked reporters Wednesday. “If not, we have to talk to the league.

“Hurts.”

Of course, Cisco hasn’t been fined because that accounting doesn’t come until Saturday and Cisco was docked $11,817 for unnecessary harshness/low blocking for his actions against Johnson.

Johnson was forced to leave the game for one play and was able to return.

Johnson spoke about the injury, which could have been much worse if his leg had been planted when Cisco made contact.

Johnson missed the Eagles’ walk-through practice Wednesday while watching the session with a brace on his left leg. He was then limited on Thursday before becoming a full participant on Friday. Johnson is set to start his fourth straight game in Dallas on Sunday at left tackle in place of the injured Jordan Mailata (hamstring).

Mailata is eligible to come off the disabled list after Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, but with a short week and a Thursday night game against Washington, the earliest Mailata is likely to return is Nov. 24 at Los Angeles Rams.

“I feel good about Sunday,” Johnson said. “…That hit could have been a lot worse than it looked on film. I just saw him fall and I lifted my leg trying to land on him. They said if my foot was planted, I could have been out for the year.”
