Suspect in multi-county chase, shooting had filed PFA against ex-girlfriend

An Altoona man who was shot and killed by police Friday after a Multi-county high-speed chase and domestic incident. He had reportedly filed a protection from abuse order against one of the other victims.

According to a copy of the PFA, which we obtained from the Altoona Mirror, Ricky Shannon, 22, was allegedly involved in an ongoing domestic case with a 19-year-old woman.

Shannon claimed the woman had threatened him several times and been physically violent toward him before moving out of their shared residence, which is located along the 500 block of 11th Street in Altoona.

Authorities say Shannon reportedly filed the PFA application just days before Friday’s events.

According to the PFA, Shannon allegedly asked the woman to leave the Altoona residence and asked her not to post anything about their relationship on social media.

In response, officials say the woman allegedly filed her own PFA against Shannon.

Court documents show Shannon was served with a no-contact order early Friday morning, which allegedly led him to drive to his family’s apartment in Lancaster County.

Cops say Shannon allegedly entered the apartment and shot several members of the woman’s family, killing one of them, before fleeing the scene with the woman.

According to investigators, during the following high-speed chase, Shannon allegedly opened fire on police.

State police say after Shannon was shot, officers discovered the woman had also been shot to death.

Authorities say it is unclear if she was hit by police during the shooting or if Shannon shot her inside the vehicle.

The PFA also notes that Shannon and the woman were scheduled to appear in Blair County Court on November 14 regarding their respective PFAs.
