Brighton news: Matt O’Riley after scoring Seagulls’ first goal

Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley spoke to BBC Match of the Day after scoring his first goal for the Seagulls against Manchester City: “It feels really good, it’s just nice to be playing football again. It’s my first injury in professional football. I was able to stay positive during my rehab and that has allowed me to come back even sooner, which is really nice.

About Carlos Baleba: “He’s strong. In short, he’s a real beast. It’s nice to play alongside someone like that because he crushes everyone and makes my life pretty easy.”

On whether he thought the game was there to win: “Yes, especially when there is just one goal. The type of team we are, we created so many opportunities that it was just a matter of taking them and being ruthless. Against teams like Manchester City it’s small details and today they were ruthless.”

On whether Brighton can win things: “That should always be the right goal. The manager talks about trying to challenge the establishment and that is what we are trying to do. In my opinion, we are a club that is progressing very well, so why not?”
