Former Chelsea FC star Hakim Ziyech, captain of the Moroccan national team, appears to have mocked the victims of the overnight attacks on Israeli football fans in Amsterdam.

In a post on Instagram, he compared the violence against Jewish fanatics to Israeli military operations in Gaza.

“If they are not women and children, then they run away,” he wrote while sharing images of Israeli supporters fleeing a pro-Palestinian mob to his 11.4 million followers.

“And Palestine remains free,” he added.

The violence broke out following a UEFA Europa League match between Ajax Amsterdam and Israel‘s Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday night.
