Charli XCX nominated for 7 Grammy Awards

Charli XCX has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards for the 2025 ceremonies: Album of the Year for Brat, Record of the Year for “360,” Best Pop Solo Performance for “Apple,” Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Guess” with Billie Eilish , Best Dance Pop Recording for “Von Dutch”, Best Dance/Electronic Album for Brat and Best Remixed Recording for “Von Dutch” with AG Cook and Addison Rae.

This is a windfall for Charli, who’s been in the game since time immemorial, sometimes, it seems, writing and performing the kind of songs that are always in Target’s playlist rotation.

“Me not being nominated for a Grammy for Crash is like Mia Goth not being nominated for an Oscar for Pearl and just further proves that people don’t want to see hot, evil girls prosper,” she tweeted in 2023, when it was released his album. Crash did not receive nominations. You could say that things have changed.

“I wrote an album about me and my friends, about parties and all my problems. I wasn’t really sure if anyone would connect with it, but luckily for me, the pendulum of culture swung in favor of clutter, personality, and niche. And a lot of people ended up connecting with my songs probably because they feel as confused and volatile as I do sometimes,” she said at the Wall Street Journal’s 2024 Innovator Awards in October.

It is reminiscent of Statements by Chappell Roan this week about how everything started working out for her the moment she stopped taking herself seriously. Charli XCX has been here, doing that damn thing, for a long time. Golf club was a defiant middle finger to the music industry and is finally reaping the well-deserved rewards.
