KSP searches for a man considered “armed and dangerous”

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) have named a person of interest following a situation where a woman was found dead inside a burning home.

Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire early Friday morning on Old Mill Springs Road off Highway 90.

The Wayne County coroner said Mary Fulton, 66, was found dead inside the home.

KSP agents said they are searching for Fulton’s son, Joseph K. Fulton, 43, of Monticello, in connection with a murder investigation.

Firefighters said it’s too early to say what caused the house fire.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” said Gabe Heatherly, Chief of the Monticello Fire Department. “The nature of the fire is under investigation. And the details about it are in that. The facts are that there was a fire, we found a body in the structure and the what and why are ongoing in that investigation.”

Troopers said Fulton is 6’0 and weighs approximately 150 pounds. with brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt and blue jeans. Police said Joseph may be driving Mary Fulton’s 2008 gray or tan Dodge Nitro, Kentucky license plate BHH801.

Troopers said Fulton is considered armed and dangerous and has an active warrant for his arrest.
