Officers arrest second man on drug charges after traffic stop in Midway Park

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – The Eastern Sheriff’s Office says deputies made another drug trafficking arrest in connection with a traffic stop in October.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office says 71-year-old David Carroll was arrested Wednesday afternoon on multiple drug charges.

Officers initially stopped Carroll and Timothy Scott in a car for a traffic stop near the intersection of Piney Green Road and Rocky Run Road on October 30.

Deputies say Scott, the passenger in the car was arrested on drug trafficking charges after quantities of fentanyl trafficking were found that day.

Carroll, of Jacksonville, faces the following charges:

  • Three counts of trafficking opium or heroin
  • Felony Maintaining a Dwelling/Vehicle for Controlled Substances
  • Felony Manufacturing of Schedule II Controlled Substances
  • Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Distribute Controlled Substances, Schedule II
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is in the Onslow County Jail under an $85,000 secured bond. The sheriff’s office says his first court appearance was yesterday and his next court appearance is scheduled for December 5.
