Anti-LGBTQ MAGA evangelical leader arrested for child pornography

In yet another “not a drag queen” story, former My Faith Votes executive director Jason C. Yates, 55, whose organization is known for reaching out to Trump voters, has been charged with possession of child pornography . The MAGA evangelical leader was accused last month in McLeod County, Minnesota, District Court on eight felony counts. Yates faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each count.

The Christian Mail information:

According to court records, a witness told authorities in July that a member of Yates’ family “accidentally discovered” a hard drive containing child sexual abuse material “in Jason Yates’ office.”

“The content included more than 100 sexually explicit images of children,” the district court document noted, and several of the photographs were believed to be of children under 10 years old.

Yates was released Monday “on his own recognizance,” with the condition of his release that he not have any contact with anyone under the age of 18, Ministry Watch reported.

Yates was listed as executive director of My Faith Votes on the organization’s IRS Form 990 filed last year, according to Ministry Watch, and articles on the website were published under his byline in July.

He is not currently listed on the organization’s website as part of the leadership. Instead, the “About” page identifies former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as honorary national president and Sealy Yates, an attorney related to Jason Yates, as founder and president.

Dr. Ben Carson, author and conservative activist, previously served as honorary president until assuming the role of Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the first Trump administration.

My Faith Votes was “founded in 2015 by Sealy Yates to get millions of Christians to vote and stand up for biblical values,” according to its website.

Some of the explicit images and videos involved children aged between five and seven. According the independentYates met with investigators on September 13 and refused to give them a password to access the encrypted files on the drive. Furthermore, sherevealed that he had a previous expunged conviction related to child sexual abuse materials.

“In early August 2024, the My Faith Votes board of directors separated Jason Yates from My Faith Votes and board member Chris Sadler took over as interim CEO,” a My Faith Votes spokesperson told RNS.

A few weeks before the hard drive was discovered, Yates published an op-ed in the Washington Times. encourage Christians to reject “sexually deviant” messages towards children. The “deviant” message he was describing involved LGBTQ issues..

I’m starting to see a pattern here. It’s not the LGBTQ community or drag queens. It’s them. Who knew! Therefore, you are free under responsibility as long as you do not contact children. Did you swear to God that you won’t do it? Did you promise it with your pinky? The man should be behind bars.

I need to vomit now. Brb!
