Elections 2024: ‘I am the only one who can bring peace’ – claims Alan Kyerematen

Founder of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has presented himself as the leader Ghana needs to guide the country through its current political challenges.

During a mega walk in Kumasi, Kyerematen argued that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are deeply divided by internal conflicts, which have undermined their ability to govern effectively.

He stated that his leadership offers a path to unity and stability, positioning him as the most viable option for Ghanaians in this period of political uncertainty.

Mr Kyerematen called on citizens to break away from the dominance of the NPP and the NDC, stressing that Ghana needs new leadership to meet the country’s future challenges.

Central to his campaign is the promise to reform the 1992 constitution. Kyerematen argued that the current constitution encourages corruption and hinders effective governance.

He promised that, if elected, he would work to amend the constitution to create a more accountable and transparent political system.

Mr Kyerematen also criticized the much-vaunted Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, saying that while the idea is commendable, its implementation is flawed.

He suggested a reassessment of the policy to ensure that it delivers real benefits to Ghanaians, stressing the need for reforms in the education sector.

In his speech, the former Trade Minister emphasized the urgency of change and urged Ghanaians to support his vision for a new political era.

He emphasized that only through bold leadership and constitutional reforms can Ghana overcome political impasse and achieve sustainable development.

“Ghanaians say the country is divided in two. Things that don’t require us to be political; we are political about it. The NPP and NDC factions to which we belong have internal divisions. Do they think the land is theirs?”

“If the land is theirs, they should tell me so I can sit down. If there are two people fighting, we need someone to be the referee, right? Know that Alan Kyerematen is the referee for Ghana. Alan is the only person who can bring peace to Ghana.”

“If the NDC wins in the December polls, it will cause as many problems as the NPP. The only person who will win and peace will prevail is Alan Kyeremanten. If you give me the mandate, Ghana will be transformed within a year,” he said.
