Ibrahima Konate and Jayden Danns react after ‘special’ Liverpool player confirms he has signed a new contract

Ibrahima Konate and Jayden Danns react after ‘special’ Liverpool player confirms he has signed a new contract

Liverpool fans may be paying more attention to new contracts than new players in the coming months.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will all see their contracts with Liverpool expire next summer.

Jarell Quansah recently signed a new contract, and while that has pleased many supporters, new contracts are undoubtedly the priority for the star trio.

But it remains to be seen whether Arne Slot is working on such deals behind the scenes with those in power.

The new Liverpool manager has quickly won over the Anfield faithful, but his stock is set to rise even further with contract extensions for those three key players.

Ibrahima Konate responds to Trey Nyoni’s new contract

However, there has been a breakthrough with another key player, with youngster Trey Nyoni signing his first professional contract with the Reds.

Liverpool fans have dubbed Nyoni ‘special’ in pre-season, with the 17-year-old now confirming his first deal on Instagram, writing: “First professional contract.”

And it certainly got many Anfield players excited, with Ibrahima Konate saying: “Okeyyyyyyyyyyy,” as Jayden Danns and James McConnell responded with raised hands and clapping hands emojis respectively.

Other Reds players such as Van Dijk and Alexis Mac Allister, meanwhile, were enamored with the image of Nyoni signing his new contract.

What role will Trey Nyoni play under Arne Slot?

Nyoni made his only senior Liverpool appearance to date in last season’s FA Cup, coming on as a substitute in the fifth round win over Southampton.

The midfielder was just 16 years old when he made his debut and has played a major role in the club’s Under-21 side this season.

He will undoubtedly have learned a lot from the preparation under Slot, where he scored in the friendly against Sevilla at Anfield.

And the 17-year-old, who joined from Leicester City in 2023, is likely to play under the new boss in the coming months.

Nyoni, who can play both centrally and wide, is a regular at the Under-21s, but was put on the bench by Slot for the match against Bologna earlier this month.
