Inspection finds four more Norfolk schools need urgent repairs

Schools have been inspected for roofs constructed with lath and plaster.

The method involves strips of wood nailed to walls and ceilings and covered with plaster, which the authority said could risk cracking and collapsing if damaged.

Norfolk County Council said work had been carried out at seven schools during half term to minimize disruption.

Work on many of the other 11 schools was nearing completion, including Woodton Primary, which has used the Woodton Parish Council hall for some classes.

However, work had not started at a school where a staff room was affected.

The authority said academies were responsible for their own maintenance programs and had written to trusts to notify them of the problem.
