Red Devils make ‘consultation’ to sign former Manchester City star in blockbuster move

Manchester United have reportedly made “inquiries” over the signing of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané but face competition from Arsenal and other top teams.

The former Manchester City player’s contract expires at the end of the season and so far there are no indications that he will sign an extension with Bayern.

SaneThe 28-year-old is considered one of the best wingers in Europe on his day and it is no surprise to see a host of top clubs lining up to sign him.

According to the journalist Christian Falk, “Manchester United are interested in Sané and have already inquired about him, while Arsenal also have him on their shortlist.”

Falk states that Sané “will await contract negotiations with Bayern before making a decision on his future.” However, he has struggled to get consistent minutes under Vincent Kompany and is yet to start in the Bundesliga this season.

Michael Olise has found himself ahead of Sane in the pecking order since his move to Bayern from Crystal Palace over the summer and Sane is reportedly becoming frustrated by the situation.

The winger won eight major trophies during his time at Manchester City and could prove a fantastic addition to Manchester United in a free transfer. He will be eligible to enter pre-contract talks with non-German clubs from January 1 if he does not sign a new deal before then and the Red Devils appear to be in contention for his signature.

Man Utd actively looking for new wingers

Man Utd and their soon-to-be new manager, Ruben Amorim, agree that Antony’s performances have not been good enough and there is a good chance he will be sold, either in January or next summer.

Sane would certainly be an improvement on Antony’s £86m flop and has the quality to slot straight into the Red Devil’s starting eleven.

However, he is not the only winger on Manchester United’s radar. Amorim is eager to reunite with Sporting CP wonderkid Geovany Quenda at Old Trafford.

TEAMtalk sources say Amorim has also indicated to the Man Utd board that he believes Sporting duo Marcus Edwards and Pedro Goncalves, who are also wingers, would be valuable additions.

But there is no doubt that Man Utd would jump at the opportunity to sign Sane on a free transfer if it presents itself.

As we exclusively revealed in September, Sane is on Liverpool’s short list of potential replacements for Mo Salah, who is likely to leave Anfield when his contract expires next summer.

Therefore, we could see Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal competing to sign Sané if he does not sign a contract extension with Bayern.

Man Utd summary: Will Carreras return? / Goretzka with his eyes

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal that Man Utd are considering Exercising the buyback clause of former player Álvaro Carrerasbut they won’t be able to activate it for a while.

Despite left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having long-term injuries, Man Utd decided to sell the 21-year-old to Benfica in the summer for a fee of up to €9m (£7.5m, 9.7 million dollars). .

TEAMtalk can confirm that Man Utd have a buy-back clause that will cost them approximately £16 million (€19.2 million, $20.7 million). However, it is understood that a move in January is very remote and if that clause is triggered it is likely to come into play in the summer of 2025 or beyond.

In other news, Man Utd are reported to be considering another Bayern transfer raid. this time for experienced midfielder Leon Goretzka.

The Premier League giants spent around £60 million (€72 million, $77.4 million) to sign defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern this summer.

Goretzka has struggled to get game time this season under Kompany and speculation has grown that the 29-year-old could leave the Bundesliga side, with Man Utd a long-time admirer of his.

However, journalist Florian Plettenberg claims the 6ft 2in midfielder has no plans to leave Bayern in January, despite Manchester United’s interest in him.
