Grand Rapids contractor faces fraud charges after failing to complete projects

A Grand Rapids man faces fraud charges after he allegedly accepted thousands of dollars in payments for home improvement projects but never completed them.

Ottawa County deputies first launched an investigation against Wesley Pawloski, 30, in July 2023, after a homeowner reported he paid Blackstone Partners LLC for construction work that was never completed.

In addition to the homeowner, investigators found that several subcontractors had provided construction services for Blackstone Partners, but never received full payment for their work, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Ultimately, investigators turned the case over to the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office, who authorized charges to be filed.

Pawloski was then charged with three counts of felony contractor fraud in August, agents said.

However, a month after Pawloski was charged, detectives discovered that the 30-year-old was still accepting payments for construction projects under a different name: Designed Construction LLC.

Again, customers paid Pawloski’s company for home improvement services, but the projects were never completed, according to the sheriff’s office.

In total, home and business owners were defrauded of more than $100,000, agents said.

Another charge of felony contractor fraud was then filed against Pawloski, who was arrested in Grand Rapids on October 29.

The 30-year-old man was arraigned on the four charges on Oct. 30 and Tuesday, respectively.

He was given a $50,000 cash surety bond, which has since been posted, according to the sheriff’s office.

This case remains under investigation.
