British Olympic legend Sir Chris Hoy has announced his cancer is terminal.

The six-time Olympic gold medalist confirmed this Sunday times that doctors have told him he has two to four years to live.

The 48-year-old Scottish former athlete and presenter announced earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Hoy revealed that he has known for about a year that his cancer is terminal.

Sir Chris Hoy won six Olympic gold medals in cycling between 2004 and 2012, which is the second highest total of any British Olympian after Sir Jason Kenny’s total of seven.

He retired from cycling in 2013 and has since become a commentator and presenter.

Hoy told the Sunday times that he had been diagnosed with primary cancer in his prostate, which has now spread to his bones, making it stage four cancer.

Tumors had been discovered in his shoulder, pelvis, hip, spine and rib.

Sir Chris said: ‘As unnatural as it feels, this is nature. You know, we’re all born and we’re all going to die, and this is just part of the process.

“Remind yourself: Aren’t I lucky that I can take medication that will hold this off for as long as possible.”

Hoy married his wife Sarra in 2010 and they have two children together, Callum and Chloe.
