MOUNT JACKSON, Va. (WHSV) – A man is dead after a single-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday morning in the 7000 block of Orkney Grade Road in Mount Jackson.

At approximately 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, Daniel S. Painter, 42, of Mount Jackson was driving a Ford Transit van eastbound on Orkney Grade Road. The car went off the road on the right side into a ditch and crashed into a fence, according to Virginia State Police.

Painter died at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt, VSP said, and a medical emergency is considered a factor in the crash.

VSP continues to investigate the accident.
