DeWitt man arrested after officers say they found child pornography of young girls

DeWitt, NY – A man was arrested Thursday in DeWitt because troopers say he uploaded explicit photos and videos of young girls in 2023 and 2024.

Abraham M. Witteman, 40, was charged Thursday with possessing and promoting child pornography involving girls as young as 4 years old, troopers said in a criminal complaint filed in the city of DeWitt.

Witteman uploaded the explicit content of young girls to a commercial cloud storage and emailed some of the content four times in 2023 and 2024, troopers said in the court documents. The content included two videos and two photos featuring girls aged 4 to 8 years old, they said.

During Witteman’s arrest at 6820 Myers Road, officers said they also found child pornography on two phones in his possession.

Witteman is being held without bail at the Onondaga County Justice Center.

Witteman was sentenced to three years in prison for second-degree assault in 2007, according to state records. He left in 2010.

Witteman was sentenced to five years in prison in 2014 for reckless abuse of a child, according to state records. He stepped out in 2020.

In September 2023, three people were accused of kidnapping a man, beating him with metal pipes and shocking him with jumper cables in a garage at the same home. It is not known whether Witteman lived there at the time; he was not charged for that incident.
