UAE: How to Apply for a Certified Copy of a Birth Certificate – News

It is important to have your birth certificate authenticated as it confirms that the document is legitimate within the local system. This authentication ensures that your birth certificate is recognized by government agencies and institutions in the country.


In the UAE, the Emirates Health Services (EHS) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) can help you obtain a certified copy of your birth certificate upon your request. If you as a parent are looking for a certified copy of your child’s birth certificate, you can also arrange this through EHS and Mohap.

If you are currently outside the UAE and need to have your or your child’s birth certificate authenticated, you can have someone you trust handle the request for you. If you are a resident, you can also request your embassy to handle the process on your behalf.

Here is your guide to requesting a certified copy of your or your child’s birth certificate:

Eligibility

This service is available to UAE citizens and expats.

How to apply

You can submit a request via the Mohap website (mohap.gov.ae)

  • Log in with your UAE pass
  • Click on ‘Services’
  • Select ‘Birth certificate’
  • Click on ‘Issue of a certified copy of the birth certificate’

  • Enter the necessary information, such as your date of birth and your Qaid number.

MoHAP app

You can also submit a request via the Mohap app. Just do the following:

  • Log in with your UAE pass
  • Tap ‘Services’
  • Select ‘Issue of a certified copy of the birth certificate’

  • Tap ‘Apply’
  • Choose ‘Issue of a certified copy of the birth certificate’

  • Tap ‘Start Service’
  • Enter the necessary information, such as your date of birth and your Qaid number.

The Qaid number is a unique ten-digit number issued by the UAE to manage the birth registration process and issue birth certificates. This number is assigned to a child as soon as the medical institution where the child was born notifies the government of the child’s birth.

In addition to using the Mohap website and app, you can also request a copy of your certified birth certificate by visiting public health centers and government hospitals run by the EHS where they will assist you with the process. Make sure you have all the necessary documents with you so that the process goes smoothly.

  • Valid Emirates ID

The processing of your request takes only one working day.

Costs

You only have to pay D10 for the service.

Service times

You can request a copy of your certified birth certificate at any time via the MoHAP website and app. However, if you want to visit public health centers and government hospitals run by the EHS, make sure you visit between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM Monday to Thursday. You can come by on Friday between 7:30 AM and 12:00 PM.
