Person seriously injured in broad daylight stabbing in Northwest Portland; accused suspect

PORTLAND Pray. (KPTV) – One person was seriously injured in a daylight stabbing in Northwest Portland Wednesday afternoon, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Shortly after 3 p.m., officers responded to Northwest Flanders Street and Northwest 23rd Avenue for reports of a stabbing. They found one victim, who was later rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The Portland Police Bureau said at a news conference Wednesday that resources and patrols will remain in Portland after Election Day.

After obtaining a description, police found and arrested a suspect near Northwest Flander Street and Northwest Westover Road.

The suspect, Zachary Kelso, 35, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and faces two counts of first-degree assault.
