Normangee ISD is asking the public for more information surrounding a teacher’s ‘inappropriate behavior’

NORMANGEE, Texas (KBTX) – A Normangee ISD employee was placed on administrative leave earlier this week while district officials investigated reports of inappropriate behavior between that employee and a student. In an update from the district on Friday, the school system said it believes there may be more to the story.

The school district told KBTX Friday that officials have become aware of more allegations involving the employee, described as an educator, who was first placed on leave last week. The employee was allowed to return on Monday and go back on leave on Wednesday morning, as previously reported.

Normangee ISD released the following information to the public on Friday:

One parent reported “inappropriate communication on social mediaand inappropriate physical contact between a teacher and their child at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) last Tuesday, October 8. A district police investigation began.

The employee has not been allowed on campus since October 16, when he reported for ‘Staff Development’, was reprimanded and asked to leave again.

Normangee ISD said the investigation uncovered additional allegations, which are being investigated by district officials and LCSO.

The district has ensured that the school board cannot meet to discuss this topic until after the investigation has concluded.

Finally: “The District will release additional information as soon as the law permits and as soon as the District can legally release such information. The court cannot and does not want to conduct its investigation via social media.”
