Charlamagne the God warned Democrats not to just chalk up the former president donald trump electoral victory to “racism” and “sexism”.

on Wednesday The breakfast clubCharlamagne reacted to Trump’s victory over the vice president Kamala Harris saying he is trying to remain “optimistic” but admitting he expects a “revenge tour” from Trump.

“The only thing I can pray is that Donald Trump returns to the White House and does not seek revenge, but unity. “You have to be a president for all Americans,” he said.

In a segment near the end of the show where the radio host said he wanted to speak directly to voters, Charlamagne argued that Trump won on two issues: the economy and the border:

Democrats will look for someone to blame. Let me be the first to tell you that it’s not just one thing. I personally feel that Donald Trump speaks to people’s grievances better than the Democrats. I know people are going to talk about misinformation and the brutalization of society, I understand it all, but you don’t have to be smart to know that you can’t pay your bills. You don’t have to be smart to know that you can’t afford to buy food. People will forget what you did, they will forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.

Economic gains don’t matter, he added, when inflation still affects the cost of everyday items like food. Voters, he said, remember being more “financially stable” under Trump. According to Charlamagne, Democrats have also failed in their messaging when it comes to the southern border.

He encouraged Democrats to look at themselves before pointing the finger at “racism” and “sexism”:

I don’t think it’s fair to attribute Trump’s victory to racism, sexism, homophobia, and anti-Semitism; yes, he took advantage of all the worst things that America has had to offer and there are many people who agree with his rhetoric and I voted for him for those reasons, but I really believe that most people voted for him because they want more money in their pockets and want to feel safe.

While the radio host did not admit that Trump would be better on any of these issues, he did admit that the Republican was better at selling a compelling message to Americans, while Democrats felt like they were “ignoring” the issues.

Democrats, he declared, might simply be “really out of touch” with voters:

I’m not saying that Donald Trump is going to solve all that. What I’m saying is that Donald Trump has made people feel like he’s going to fix all of that in a way that the Democrats haven’t. Again, don’t just chalk it up to racism and sexism. Okay, I think those things play a role, but at the end of the day, it’s the economy that’s stupid and the Democrats may not be in touch with what ordinary Americans feel.

Charlamagne also partially blamed Harris’ loss on the president. joe biden. The radio announcer was one of the first to call for Biden to abandon his re-election campaign, arguing Wednesday that if Biden had made clear he would not run again a year or two before abandoning his campaign, he would have given Harris or someone else better time to prepare for the race.

“They could have done a proper primary, picked a candidate, I think the vice president probably still would have been the best choice, but I think Biden is one of the biggest issues here that people won’t want to talk about, but they should,” he said. .
