Daughter of retired judge dies in mysterious fall; husband accused of murder |

Lucknow: A 40-year-old woman died after falling from the 10th floor of Aravali Apartment Complex in Sector 12 of Vrindavan Yojana on Wednesday night.
The deceased, Preeti Dwivedi, was the daughter of a retired additional district judge. While her husband claimed that she ended her life because she struggled with mental health issues, her family alleged that she was pushed from the balcony.
Preeti resided in the apartment with her husband, Ravindra Kumar Dwivedi, a bailiff at a bank, and their two children, aged 11 and 3. Police said that around 7.45 pm on Wednesday, Preeti fell from the 10th floor and died on the spot. Police officers and a forensic team attended the scene.
Ravindra claimed that Preeti was receiving treatment for schizophrenia, which affected her mental well-being and led her to take her own life.
However, Preeti’s father SP Tiwari claimed that his daughter had confided in him about her marital problems, alleging mistreatment by her husband, who was struggling with his debts.
Tiwari claimed that Ravindra harassed Preeti and abused him when he tried to intervene.
Tiwari alleged that Ravindra sent his children somewhere after Preeti’s death, raising concerns among the grieving parents.
SHO, PGI, Ravi Shankar Tripathi said Ravindra had been detained for questioning. Police took statements and the body was sent for autopsy. “We will proceed with a case based on the allegations made by the family of the deceased. The autopsy report will be crucial to clarify the cause of death,” Tripathi said.
