‘Best Celtic display since the days of Sutton and Larsson’: Fans’ views on RB Leipzig win

We asked him for his opinion after Celtic’s excellent Champions League win and performance against RB Leipzig.

This is what some of you said:

Jorge: Magnificent performance by Celtic, who came back from 1-0 down and scored three goals. Callum McGregor ran the show in midfield and Nicolas Kuhn did the rest, he was man of the match.

Apprentice: The best Celtic performance I have seen since the last UEFA Cup season in 2003. Defensively we were stiff, Cameron Carter-Vickers is the best defender we have had at the club since Virgil Van Dijk. Kuhn is doing an incredible job of proving last season’s skeptics wrong. I dare say we can have our eye on the top eight…

Dave: Apart from about 15 minutes in the first half, I thought Celtic dominated the game. Sure they got lucky a couple of times, but that’s to be expected at this level. Tremendous victory.

Craig: It was a beautiful and magical night. From the sound of the Champions League anthem until the final whistle, the stadium shook and the players were there. A memorable Champions League night that we hadn’t seen in many years. Not only the result but the performance.

Ben: 60,000 fans watched Celtic dismantle a top Bundesliga team. Celtic are rightfully sitting at the top table and Celtic Park is undoubtedly one of the three UCL venues.

John: Fantastic. RB Leipzig couldn’t handle our speed. The pressure for the second goal was immense. Five different players milled around him. Kuhn is on fire right now and Reo Hatate had his best game in a long time. We send the second half.

Daithi: What an incredible performance from Celtic to finally appear in a Champions League tie. They were clinical in passing and closing down their opponents when necessary. Kuhn was unplayable, his shot of the first goal would have been talked about all night if it had been Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo who had scored. Perfect performance from everyone in this great Celtic team.

Andy: The best Celtic display I’ve seen since the days of Chris Sutton, Henrik Larsson and co. The game management in the second half was incredible. The only slight negative for me is Greg Taylor, he constantly regresses. Get to work hiring Alex Valle on a permanent contract. Now we need to consolidate this by picking up three points against Brugge.

Pablo: The team has matured and continues to improve. They learn their lessons from poor performances and correct their deficiencies with good training, dedication, and a tremendous work ethic. John Kennedy needs a mention for his work and Brendan has them now working as a single unit.

Alan: Excellent performance from Celtic! Across Europe some eyebrows will be raised.

José: Celtic are seriously maturing in Europe now. The patience to sit back and be solid, combined with the ability to play a fast, fluid passing game in the future, is exciting. Some of the quick exchanges of passes in tight spaces are a joy to behold. Many players were in top form and McGregor has to be one of the best midfielders in the UK. Impulse.
