Girl accused of stabbing 2 in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – A female juvenile was taken into custody in connection with a sting investigation in Carbondale.

Officers were called shortly before 3:30 PM on Thursday, October 18, to a disturbance in the 300 block of East Birch Street.

When they arrived, officers reported finding two victims who had been stabbed.

Officers said the victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have identified the stabbing suspect as a female minor who was known to the victims.

They said an argument led to the stabbing.

The suspect was arrested for serious injuries.

Police said the suspect was released to a family member after multiple juvenile detention centers would not or could not accept the girl.

According to Carbondale Police, their investigation into the case is active and ongoing.
