Franklin County Children’s Services Tax Passes with Strong Voter Support

The 2024 Franklin County Child Services Tax, known as Issue 46, is projected to pass with approximately 65% voter approval for the 2.5 mill renewal, which includes a modest increase.

Chip Spinning, executive director of Franklin County Children’s Services (FCCS), thanked the community for their support.

“Here in Franklin County, we all believe that every child in our community deserves to feel safe at home, safe from the fear of abuse and neglect, and sometimes families need help to make that possible,” Spinning said . “And thanks to voters, Franklin County Children’s Services will have the resources we need to help keep children safer and families stronger longer.”

Spinning emphasized the importance of the tax to continuing the agency’s work. With the passage of our tax, we will be able to continue our necessary work of protecting children by strengthening families,” he said. “We know that keeping children safer today is not a one-size-fits-all solution. “It requires an integrated strategy that emphasizes protecting the whole child and addressing their mental health and social-emotional challenges.”

Spinning highlighted the tax’s role in supporting neighborhood-based prevention programs and providing resources for family members and family friends who care for children when parents are unable to do so.

“On behalf of our dedicated FCCS team, we again share our gratitude for the vote of confidence you have given us,” Spinning said. “We believe there are few missions more important than working together with our community to help keep children safer and families stronger longer. Your support makes this possible. Thank you.”
