New video shows explosion at Vancouver polls; officials call it a ‘blitz’

Footage from C-TRAN cameras shows smoke billowing from the polls at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center moments after someone passed by. Less than 30 seconds after the car drives away, the urn explodes.

KATU obtained the video from the transit agency through a public records request on Monday.

The FBI’s Seattle office is leading the investigation. The agency issued a statement last week after the incident: “The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI want to assure our communities that we are working closely and quickly together to investigate the two arson fires at the polls in Vancouver, Washington, and the one in Portland , Oregon, and we will work to hold whoever is responsible fully accountable.”

FURTHER:The man behind the poll fires has experience in metallurgy and could plan more attacks

Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey told KATU last week that the explosion has not deterred voters from using the polls.

On Monday, Kimsey said that after “the Fisher’s Landing ballot drop box bombing…voters began using the ballot drop box at a higher personal rate than we saw in 2020.”

Kimsey told KATU that the county had recovered 494 ballot remnants from the burned mailbox, six of which were unidentifiable. The remaining 488 had information identifying voters the auditor’s office had contacted.
