York City woman convicted in death of half-sister

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A 21-year-old York City woman was sentenced Wednesday to a mandatory life sentence for killing her half-sister in 2022, the district attorney’s office said.

Alajah Elizabeth Holmes, who was 19 at the time, shot her 18-year-old half-sister Amiya Paige in the back on December 31, 2022. Paige was transported to WellSpan York Hospital, where she later died.

Holmes fled the crime scene, but turned himself in on Friday, January 6, 2023.

Holmes entered a guilty plea to murder in August 2024 and was ultimately found guilty of first-degree murder by President Judge Musti Cook after a guilt hearing, according to the district attorney’s office.

Holmes was sentenced to life in prison.
