Dancing With The Stars Fans Are FURIOUS That Presidential Election Is Ahead Of Popular TV Shows

Dancing With The Stars fans are up in arms after learning that the popular reality show will be going off the air on Tuesday due to the US presidential election.

Fans took to social media to lament the news after learning of the blackout date of Nov. 5, which will instead allow its network, ABC, to air news and election coverage.

However, DWTS isn’t the only show going dark due to the presidential election, even if it has particularly vocal fans.

Late-night hosts including Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon will skip their regular schedules as major television networks anticipate a close election that will stretch late into the night and possibly leave Americans without a obvious winner for days.

Dancing With The Stars fans will now have to wait until Tuesday, Nov. 12 to catch up on the competition, according to a list of postponed shows compiled by news week.

Fans of the series took to X (formerly Twitter) to air their fury over the canceled November 5 episode.

“Dancing with the stars was postponed for this damn election (sic),” wrote one particularly eloquent fan.

Another viewer joked, “The most worrying part about this whole election is that there will be no Dancing With The Stars tomorrow.”

Others begged for the show to go on, with one person promising to “vote for Ilona Maher 10 times in the middle of election coverage” if possible.

“I understand there’s an election tomorrow, but how about dancing with the stars (crying emojis)?” wrote another fan.

One humorous post was in response to a seemingly harmless Pop Crave post that featured photos of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump and said that “Election Day is a week away.”

“This election caused Dancing With The Stars to be canceled next week (angry emoji),” one response read.

Other reality shows being axed Tuesday include Lifetime’s Married At First Sight, which will resume Nov. 12, along with TLC’s 1,000-Pound Sisters.

Another competition series, The Voice, will also air on election night as NBC focuses on its coverage of the final day of the presidential campaigns.

Although reality shows are the main victims of the calendar change, the long-running police procedural series FBI will not be in action on November 5 to free up CBS for election coverage as polls close across the country. However, it will be back up and running the following week.

Fans of late-night shows will be in for one of the biggest hits, as almost all of the major talk shows will not air on Tuesday night.

Jimmy Kimmel will miss the Nov. 5 episode in favor of news coverage, but will return Wednesday night with guests including Jon Favreau, Jon Lovitz, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor.

He’ll likely have a lot to say about the election, as his quartet of guests are hosts of the popular liberal politics podcast Pod Save America, while Alessia Cara will be his musical guest.

Stephen Colbert will also not participate on Tuesday and will follow a similar path when he returns on Wednesday to chat with George Stephanopoulos, while Lenny Kravitz performs.

On NBC, Jimmy Fallown will postpone The Tonight Show until Election Day, but will return the following night with guests Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Bailey Zimmerman.

Seth Meyers, who follows with Late Night, will also be ahead of the election coverage, but will also return on Wednesday.
