ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Some Orange Park residents have found green Waste Management tags on piles of rubble waiting to be collected outside their homes.

“It would be great if they take it away because this will get worse,” said Marco Sevilla.

Marco Sevilla lives in a neighborhood on Reed Street. He left a pile of debris on the curb for it to be picked up, but came across a green tag.

“They say they won’t take it because it’s taking too long,” he said.

News4JAX spoke with Sarah Campbell, a spokesperson for Waste Management and Orange Park Town Manager, about these tags.

Waste Management said the green label means it does not meet the qualification to be used.

But officials assured that the rubble will be collected.

Campbell said the piles of debris with green tags will be taken away by Public Works.

On Thursday, News4JAX walked through neighborhoods connecting to Park Avenue and observed multiple piles of rubble – some with green tags.

“You don’t really know when they’re going to pick it up or not. It could take a month. It could take two months. You never know,” Sevilla said.

News4JAX has not been given a definitive timeline on when the debris will be collected, but Campbell assured it will be.

Sevilla said he hopes it is sooner rather than later.

“They’re starting to deteriorate. Everything started breaking down to pick it up. It’s just more. It’s more of a mess. Rain’s coming in, you know? It causes the branches to become weaker,” he said.
