Penn Yan man admits to threatening a person with a knife at a local business

A Penn Yan man was arrested for menacing and intimidation after a reported altercation in a parking lot.

Erik B. Hoyt, 26, was taken into custody on October 12 after allegedly threatening a person with a large knife and hitting him in the head.

Police called a local business after the victim reported the incident. Hoyt admitted brandishing the knife and attacking the victim.

He is charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree intimidation. Hoyt was transported to the Yates County Jail to await a centralized arraignment.
