‘Drunk, bored’ 911 caller accused of harassment

A 911 caller discovered the limits of OPP patience this week and now faces charges for her persistence.

On October 11 at 11:30 p.m., East Algoma OPP responded to a third hoax 911 call at a residence on Highway 17 in the Village of Sprague.

“An investigation revealed that the caller was intoxicated and apparently bored during all three 911 calls,” an OPP release says. “The caller was warned each time not to call 911 for non-emergency matters.”

The first false 911 call came in at 3:30 a.m. and the second false 911 call was at 8:30 p.m. The suspect was spoken to and warned again, police say.

Due to a third bogus 911 call, Jackie McCol, 48, from Spragge, is accused of “harassing communication” and has until now been held in the Blind River detachment.

McColl is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 5.
