‘The Price Is Right’ Host Drew Carey ‘Jinxes’ $70,000 Player

‘The Price Is Right’ Host Drew Carey ‘Jinxes’ ,000 Player

A participant in The price is right may have played himself in a recent segment that went south, but a side note from Drew Carey seemed to doom him from the start.

In the October 7 episode of The price is right at night, Michael was brought on stage for the Spelling Bee game, in which a contestant tries to spell the word ‘CAR’ using honeycomb-shaped cards to win a car. On stage was a brand new Porsche valued at $70,000.

Carey showed the five mystery cards on the board and joked, “You might have five C’s up there, who knows,” which would mean he would go home empty-handed.

Before saying, “Each card is worth $3,000,” Carey added, “I’ll give you $15,000 to stop and sit down.”

Faced with the decision to go for the car prize or take a guaranteed $15,000, Michael decided to “roll the dice” and play the game. One by one, each letter turned out to be a ‘C’, reducing his returns by $3,000 each time. Despite the option to leave after each revelation, he continued until the fourth “C.”

“You know what Drew, I don’t like the luck I’ve had so far,” Michael said. “Me neither,” Carey joked, and the player opted to walk away with $3,000.

Carey revealed that the final card was a fifth “C” in a row, which was not only statistically improbable, but exactly what he joked would happen at the top. “Get that out of here, man,” the player concluded.

The game show shared the clip to Instagram on Wednesday (October 17) and wrote over it: “Is Drew Carey a coincidental curse!?” Fans took to the comments section, roasting Michael for not running away in the beginning, and expressing their shock that Carey had accidentally cursed him.

“I didn’t realize Drew said that until I just watched this movie! how ironic is that!?” wrote one user.

“My husband got all Cs!” wrote another.

“Time for Spelling Bee to retire. The Drew Carey era has gone downhill in the last 15 years,” argued a third.

“I should have taken the $15,000,” wrote a fourth.

“I would have taken $15,000 in a heartbeat!” wrote a fifth, admitting: “Staring at the Porsche on stage is a game changer. Difficult when you’re in the moment.”

“I mean, if you’re easily impressed by brand names, then sure…” argued another.

“Bruh take the money lol” one last fan guessed.

After a short summer break, The price is right returned last month with new episodes. Season 53 premiered on CBS on September 23, and America’s longest-running game show will air its 10,000th episode in February 2025.
