The crash occurred around 6 a.m. on northbound Interstate 495, prosecutors said. When emergency responders arrived, they found several people trapped in a heavily damaged pickup truck, authorities said.

Two men, ages 37 and 41, died in the crash and two other occupants of the truck suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, prosecutors said. Nguyen drove away from the crash site before emergency responders arrived, but later surrendered to police, authorities said.

Loriena Santana identified the 37-year-old victim as Celso Díaz, her husband of five years, WBZ-TV reported.

“He was the love of my life,” Santana told the television station through her brother Thiago, who translated for her. “Before going to work, we prayed together. “Everyone loves him.”

Luciana Milanez he told WBZ that the victim, 41 years old, was her husband, Kenny Milanez, who leaves two children in the United States and two more in Brazil.

“That person, instead of stopping to help, decided to just run away,” Luciana Milanez told the station through an interpreter.

Relatives of the victims could not immediately be reached for comment.

Nguyen’s next court date is scheduled for November 26.
