Pedestrian killed after crash in Lexington County

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a pedestrian died after being hit by a car in Lexington County.

The crash occurred Sunday afternoon on I-26 near Augusta Road.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the pedestrian as Clayton Wesley Barrs, 68, of West Columbia.

Fisher said Barrs was walking eastbound in the westbound lanes when he was hit by a car traveling westbound on I-26. The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

Troopers said Barrs died at the scene, however the driver was not injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
