Mail carriers demonstrate in Portland against tentative agreement between union and USPS

PORTLAND Pray. (KPTV) – Dozens of Portland-area letter carriers asked their union colleagues to vote against a tentative agreement reached with the United States Postal Service.

The group representing Portland Branch 82 of the National Association of Letter Carriers demonstrated outside the East Portland Post Office on Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, Portland’s cycling community remembered two of its own, both killed in separate accidents on the same day in Northeast Portland.

They call the current contractual agreement between their union leaders and the USPS a “slap in the face.”

They say it doesn’t do enough to protect work-life balance and tackle inflation.

The vote will take place over the next month.

The Postal Service said it respects its employees’ rights to express opinions after hours.
