A Dhaka court today (November 4) showed former Dhaka-7 legislator Haji Mohammad Salim arrested in a case filed for attempted murder of one Md Fazlur Karim in front of Dhaka Alia Madrasa in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza issued the order after the police produced him before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the case.

According to details of the case, Fazlur, 50, joined a procession of the Student Anti-Discrimination Movement on August 5. When he reached Alia Madrasa, police and Awami League men attacked the protesters, injuring many, including Fazlur.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he received treatment.

Fazlur filed the attempt to murder case at the Chawkbazar police station on October 26, against 104 people, including Salim and ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country on August 5 facing a mass uprising.

Earlier, Salim was arrested in the capital’s Bongshal area in the early hours of September 2 and remanded for five days in a murder case.
