Former CCEA exam board head settles for £100,000

Ms Farragher led the CCEA during the first GCSE, BTEC, AS and A-level summer exams that pupils took in Northern Ireland after the Covid pandemic.

But he resigned in June 2022 before students received their grades.

In her resignation letter, she stated that she had been “treated less favorably and faced ongoing harassment and intimidation” in the organization.

He said that had made his position “untenable”.

In her resignation letter, Ms Farragher also said she had informed CCEA officials “of the difficulties I have encountered since taking office”.

When contacted by BBC News NI through her legal representative regarding the resolution of her case, Ms Farragher issued a statement.

“I feel relieved that the process is finally over,” she said.

“I thank many colleagues, principals and teachers’ associations for their unwavering support,” he said.

Ms Farragher is now chief executive of the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), the organization representing the UK’s eight largest qualifications providers.
