KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – A truck driver suffered life-threatening injuries after his taxi rolled over on I-670 in Kansas City while trying to avoid a wrong-way driver.

He Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that shortly after 5:40 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​westbound I-670 and 7th St. in Kansas City for reports of a rollover collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found James C. Grimes, 50, of Smithville, Missouri, who had been driving his 2021 International semitrailer without a trailer westbound on the interstate when he attempted to avoid an unknown driver who was heading into Wrong Way.

Investigators noticed the truck left the interstate to the right and struck the barrier wall, causing the taxi to roll over. Grimes, who was wearing a seat belt at the time, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. University of Kansas Medical Center for treatment.
